Oval-shaped green olives with a creamy, vanilla flavour that some compare to avocados. A delightful table olive, the perfect partner for sparkling wine and highly regarded by true gourmets and olive connoisseurs.
Almost universally thought of as the finest French table olive, they are cultivated on a small scale around Languedoc. Picked young, right at the beginning of the harvest season, they have a distinctive eliptical shape and a delicate flavour all on their own.
Very few Lucques trees remain due to a devastating natural disaster in 1956. To read more about the legend of '56 click here.
Petit Luques Appearance: Long elliptical; bright green flecked with yellow
Texture: Crisp
From: Languedoc nr Carcassonne
Cultivar: Luques
Uses: Table
Taste: Creamy with gentle hint of vanilla a little nutty bordering on sweet
Pairs: While many say it would be a shame to cook with such a delicately-flavoured olive others advocate throwing them in a pan for the last ten minutes alongside a roasting chicken.
Did you know? Luques trees have quite the artistic temperament – they are the divas of the olive world requiring non-stop irrigation with 40 litres’ water a day. Pollination happens in a two-day window or else not at all – if it rains heavily on those days the tree will be barren.
NB. This olive mix contains stones.

In the Spring of 2015, we launched our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, ‘The Journey Matters’ to provide fresh, goal-driven focus to our sustainability efforts. The initiative is based on three core pillars: Product, Planet and People.
It promotes positive change through sustainability and social engagement, values which have been embedded in all our processes and communication since 1991, the beginning of Belazu. To accomplish our CSR goals, we work together with our suppliers, customers and employees.
Furthermore, we established the Belazu Foundation in 2003 and formalised the Foundation as a registered charity in 2012. The primary aim of the charity is to support food and educational projects for children and young people in UK and the Mediterranean.
We are proud of what we have achieved so far, and we are conscious that we can always do more to contribute to a more sustainable future for all.
