THE BELAZU BANQUET

A five-course nostalgic tasting menu curated by Belazu's chef friends and hosted by Sam & Shauna

WHAT IS THE BELAZU BANQUET?

Hosted by Sam & Shauna, the Belazu Banquet is a five-course nostalgic tasting menu curated by top chefs Angela Hartnett, Sabrina Gidda, Helen Graham, Ben Tish & Thomas Straker in aid of the Belazu Foundation. The chefs will take guests on a journey through their childhood memories of food.

The Belazu Banquet will be held on the 10th April from 6:30pm at Hackney Town Hall. In addition to the five-course tasting menu, the banquet will feature an auction. Our big ambition is to raise at least £10,000 for the Belazu Foundation and the food education and nutrition programmes it supports.

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?

Join us at the banquet and enjoy a childhood nostalgia themed five-course tasting menu. Tickets are priced at £250 each or a table of 10 for £2500.

THE BELAZU FOUNDATION

WHAT IS THE BELAZU FOUNDATION?

The Belazu Foundation supports the educational and nutritional projects of Chefs in Schools, School Food Matters and the Zakoura Foundation.

The ZAkoura Foundation

In 2003 one of Belazu’s founders decided that it was important for Belazu to give something back to the people of Morocco in the communities of our suppliers.  His visits to Morocco had shown him that many children didn’t have access to education, so he decided to partner up with local charity, the Zakoura Foundation, to help with setting up educational projects for women and children.

Since 2003, we have provide education for over 1,200 women and children, supporting projects to set up pre-schools, employ teachers and provide education materials to rural areas of Morocco.

CHEFS IN SCHOOLS

Chefs in Schools purpose is to improve school food whilst embedding education and a positive food culture into school childrens' lives.

They train restaurant chefs to run school kitchens, transform school lunches and teach children about food, withfresh, seasonal produce at the heart.

The Belazu Foundation supports by providing quality produce at an affordable price, matched funding to transform school food, and setting up The Belazu Kitchen Equipment Fund to support schools with much needed kitchen and food education equipment.

SCHOOL FOOD MATTERS

The Belazu Foundation helps to fund two projects with School Food Matters, an organisation which exists to teach children about food and to improve access to healthy, sustainable food during their time at school.

Since 2017, the Belazu Foundation and School Food Matters have organised the Holiday Food and Fun Club, which is a holiday hunger provisions programme to provide access to a hot meal and safe play during Easter & Summer Holidays. The activities range from arts and crafts to gardening, cooking and sports, which are enjoyed during the morning, followed by a hot, healthy lunch.

Fresh Enterprise provides an opportunity for secondary school students local to Belazu to learn about careers within the food industry and experience a Belazu-hosted workshop to explore the journey of a new product from concept to shelf. Last year we picked two winners and they will be launched into Abel & Cole this Spring.
