Serves 4-6
Ingredients
-
315g plain flour
-
1 tbsp baking powder
-
1 tsp salt
-
245g buttermilk
-
1 tbsp Belazu Rose Harissa
-
135g cheddar, sliced
-
1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
-
For the Rose Harissa honey butter
100g butter -
1 tbsp Belazu Rose Harissa
-
80g honey
Method
- Step 1: Mix the flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Make a well, add the buttermilk and Rose Harissa. Mix with a knife.
- Step 2: Empty onto surface and bring together using your hands into a rectangle, patting it out, ensuring you have lots of flour on the bench. Place 1/3 the sliced cheddar on the surface of your dough then fold the dough over like an envelope taking the right side over and then the left side over. Do the same with another 1/3, fold and then repeat with the last amount of cheddar and fold over the cheese into half.
- Step 3: Form the dough into a rectangle and pat it into 10x16 cm at least 3cm high. Wrap in baking parchment and put into the fridge for 15 minutes.
- Step 4: Preheat the oven to 190C.
- Step 5: Make your Rose Harissa honey butter by adding 1 tbsp Rose Harissa to the butter in the small pan along with the honey and placing on a low heat to mix.
- Step 6: Cut your biscuits into 8 and place on your lined baking tray. Brush lightly with a little milk and sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
- Step 7: Bake for 20-25 mins.
- Step 8: Brush with more Rose Harissa honey butter when they come out and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
